This work presents the development of a methodology that allows the analysis, assessment and comparison of hydrogen production and distribution for individual transport in Germany as opposed to conventional vehicles. It does so by targeting the technical parameters (energy efficiency) and costs while also conducting a life cycle assessment (LCA). The methodology is applied to a total of ten systems for hydrogen, which cover the range of possible production routes. For comparison, three different drive trains are assessed.
