About this book deutschenglish
Based on semi-structured interviews with German and French project managers and controllers, differences between German and French project controlling have been identified. These differences can be related to the cultural dimensions of Edward T. Hall and Geert Hofstede. German project managers and controllers, for example, plan bottom-up with a lot of effort and details far ahead and try to stick to their plans. Their French counterparts put less effort into top-down planning and prefer a more flexible approach towards planning results. The way project information is received, processed, and communicated differs largely. Etc. Based on these findings a common project controlling culture is proposed in order to overcome the differences and to improve project performance.
