The European Union has been working on the reform of the European insurance supervision for years. On January 1, 2016 the Solvency-II-Reform finally came in to force.

The European legislator establishes with Solvency II a complex set of quantitative and qualitative rules applying to insurance companies. A central part of these rules set covers new organisational requirements for the insurance industry. Under Solvency II, the insurance companies are required to implement a system of governance, which has to integrate i.a. extensive risk management and compliance mechanisms.

Mateusz Korus describes in his book these new governance requirements and provides analysis regarding possibilities for the practical implementation of those requirements within an insurance company and insurance holding. The aim of this book is to identify the principles and methods for the integration and cooperation of risk management, compliance, internal audit, actuarial function, internal controls, complaints-handling as well as hr and outsourcing processes within the system of governance of an insurance company. The analysis provides also the identification and systematization of tasks and responsibilities within the system of governance. A special attention has been given to the correlation between the compliance risk and risk management system of an insurance company.

Not only is this book addressed to academics and students with particular interest in Solvency II, but also to insurance/reinsurance companies as well as lawyers, consultants and auditors with professional focus on insurance supervision.
