Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainable management are main topics in the current management practice and scientific discussion. Water pollution caused by accidents on oil platforms put the focus on the consideration of environmental belongings. Also social aspects are discussed while the public criticizes the insufficient working conditions of south Asian suppliers in the textile industry. The points of view in how far ecological and social belongings have to be considered in corporate management are opposing. Some stake out the opinion corporations have to offer goods, services and workplace exclusively. Others argue, social and ecological engagement is the responsibility of a corporation as good citizen and is necessary to legitimate economical action.

This book offers a theoretical literature based framework which enables the systematically and strategically founded selection of activities concerning sustainable corporate management. CSR-engagement can be controlled in a way that on the one hand the public demand for responsible management is met. On the other hand leads the well-directed consideration of relevant stakeholders demands to a strategic advantage, which supports the achievement of economic aims.

Additional to the conceptualization of the management framework, stakeholder-orientation in management practice is examined exemplary. To this, the reported CSR-engagement of the three companies of the automotive sector, listed in the DAX30 is analyzed. Both, the consideration of stakeholder interests in terms of content and the integration of relevant stakeholders in the process of sustainable management are focused in this examination.
